Ball balancing platform
Jan 2024 - Feb 2024
The idea of implementing PID control had fascinated me for a long time and was one of the key reasons I became interested in Control Systems. One project I saw on YouTube—a ball-balancing platform—really stuck with me and inspired me to try it myself.
After learning the fundamentals of PID control, assembling the setup, and spending weeks troubleshooting, I'm proud to share the results of my work!
The system uses two servo motors, a resistive platform, Arduino UNO, and a motor shield. The control logic is implemented via a PID loop, enhanced with a series of real-time filters in MATLAB.
DC powered Catapult
May 2023 - Aug 2023
The DC-powered catapult aims to identify the projectile material and then launch the ball precisely 1 meter away, with the accuracy of a shot cup.
The project included:
-
Mechanical design to optimize the launching arm
-
Manufacturing involving welding and printing
-
Wiring an H bridge to the DC motor
-
Designing a ball identification mechanism using IR sensors
-
Developing Simulink code to control the catapult
-
Proudly securing third place in the competition!
Automobile Hood latch
Sep 2022 - Dec 2022
The project is a redesign of the Honda Civic hood latch mechanism.
The project included:
-
Patent review and analysis
-
Analytical model of the latch
-
Iterative design of the dynamic mechanism in Solidworks
-
Material selection with Granta
-
A series of design studies to evaluate and improve the design:
-
Stress, motion, frequency, topology, and fatigue
-
Sonar
Jan 2020 - Feb 2020
My first Arduino project involved hooking up an ultrasonic sensor with a servo motor to create the simplest sonar detector capable of measuring the distance to surrounding objects.
The highlight of the project was the dynamic visualization of the sensor's data on the monitor. My goal was to imitate a military radar sonar interface using Processing software linked with the Arduino IDE.
I am still in love with this small but impressive project!
